Gomates collects data to enable us to operate the Services effectively and to provide you with the best experiences on our website and our Services. Geolocation Information. We collect general information about the location of your device including the country, region, time zone setting, and language setting of the device.

Information Collected by Cookies and Other Tracking Technologies. We use cookies only for security and authentication purposes. We and our service providers may use pixel tags to track the effectiveness of our communications. When you access the Services, your personal information is not collected through tracking technology. Please note that if you delete or choose not to accept cookies from us, the Services may not be fully functional.

In accordance with your account preferences, we may use your data to email you about events in your carpool groups and notify you of communications from other members.

Helping to keep your personal data safe is our top priority. We only collect and keep data which we deem necessary to provide the Services. To protect your personal data, we use technical, physical, and administrative security measures including firewalls, data encryption, and physical access controls. While we protect our systems and services, you’re responsible for keeping your password and account information private.

SHARING OF INFORMATION

We do not sell your personal information. To make our Services work, we may need to share your personal information with other users, third parties, and service providers. This section explains when and why we share your information.

Sharing Between Gomates Users. When you join a carpool group, your user name and trip activity will always be visible to other members of that group, and may be visible to anyone who accesses the Services, depending on the group privacy settings. We also share your email address with the leaders of each group you join. Additionally, in accordance with your account preferences, your email address, phone number, and physical address may be shown to members of your group. Before joining a carpool group, you can check the group privacy settings to ensure that you are satisfied with the information that is visible to others.

Sharing with our Service Providers. We may disclose personal information to service providers to assist with certain business purposes, such as payment processing, email transmission, marketing, and fraud prevention.

For Legal Reasons. We may share your personal information if we have determined that doing so is reasonably appropriate to comply with any applicable regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request, to enforce our Terms of Service, to exercise or defend legal claims, or to protect your vital interests or those of another person.

In Connection with Sale or Merger. We may share your personal information while negotiating or in relation to a change of corporate control such as a restructuring, merger, or sale of our assets.

Within 30 days of our receipt of the request, Gomates will send a copy of the personal information we hold associated with your email address.

Data Erasure. You can request that Gomates delete your personal data by emailing a request to [email protected]. We will delete your account within 30 days of our receipt of the request. If your account is closed, we may retain personal information as required or permitted by law for business, legal, tax, or regulatory reasons.

Communications Preferences. If you receive marketing communications from us and would like to opt out, you can do so by following the directions in that communication.

CHANGES TO OUR PRIVACY POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as our Services change and privacy law evolves. If we change this policy, we will revise the “last updated” date at the top of the policy. If we make material changes, we will notify you either by prominently posting a notice of such changes or by directly sending you an email notification.
